The Table We Share: Food and Culture
July 26 – August 2 (tentative) | Chicago, IL

Participants will connect in dialogue through AFS-USA themed workshops that will engage participants in culinary and cultural excursions and activities. This one week, homestay-based program will immerse students aged 15-17 in Chicago’s neighborhoods, cultural centers, and food hot spots as the backdrop for a reflections that celebrate food, culture, and shared history. Reflections examine how our stories around food impact how we learn and connect with each other as global active citizens.

Through the AFS-USA lens, this program will explore and strengthen interpersonal and intercultural  “power” skills, such as: communication, collaboration, understanding differences and fostering active dialogue, intercultural awareness, and conflict resolution.
