The Michigan Area Team’s goal is to help deserving students and their families bridge the gap between the funds they have available and the cost of an AFS-USA program.

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Michigan* state residents.
- Applicants between 15-18 years old.
- *Students who reside in the upper peninsula of Michigan are part of AFS’s Wisconsin team and are not eligible for the Michigan Area Team scholarship. For more information, please contact the AFS-USA’s scholarship team at [email protected]

Recipients and the amount of each scholarship are decided by the Michigan Area Team’s scholarship committee, which is comprised of AFS Michigan Volunteers and Returnees. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Please note that all applicants are not guaranteed funding.
All Michigan Area Team scholarships are separate from the Global Leaders need-based scholarship application process and other merit scholarships.
