The Kasson-Mantorville Scholarship is available for high students who are accepted to any AFS-USA Study Abroad Program.

Application Process: Applicants will be expected to submit the application for the scholarship in the form of essay questions indicating where, when, and why they would like to go. Inquiries and essay question answers can be mailed to [email protected].
Application Deadline: Rolling basis

Applicant requirements:

  • Receive acceptance into the desired program by AFS-USA
  • Be at least 16 years of age by the time of program departure.
  • Reside within or be a student of the Kasson-Mantorville School District
  • Possess a 3.0 or better high school grade average
  • Meet with the AFS Kasson-Mantorville Area Team to discuss essay questions, program goals, etc.
  • Agree to fulfill the commitments listed below.

Scholarship Recipient Commitments:

  • Author articles/reports for the Dodge County Independent including photos at various points during and after program (frequency requirements will be dependent on program length.)
  • Prepare at least one presentation for Kasson-Mantorville classes (at least high school, but preferably also middle school and elementary) when back. If finished with high school, recipient must find time to return home and give presentations during the school year.

Parent or guardian requirements:

  • Pay the necessary 20% additional cost for the program
  • Participate in AFS Kasson-Mantorville AFS Area Team for at least two years.
  • Ensure student commitments are met.
