The AFS Foundation of Greater Milwaukee provides partial scholarships in ranges of $500-$3,000 to qualified local high school students in the Greater Milwaukee area who have been accepted to AFS-USA summer, semester or academic year programs. The goal of the Foundation is to help deserving students and their families bridge the gap between the funds they have available and the cost of an AFS-USA program.

Scholarship Type:  Need and Merit
Scholarship Value: $500-$3,000
Available Scholarships: Multiple Awards
Applicable Programs: Summer, Semester or Year high school programs
Application Deadline: TBD

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Students must reside or attend high school within the Milwaukee or Waukesha Area AFS Teams.
  • Have had their complete study abroad application accepted by AFS-USA.

Applications will be automatically sent to qualified students in late April for summer and fall programs and in late October for winter and spring programs. Recipients and the amount of each scholarship are determined by the Foundation’s scholarship committee, which is comprised of AFS-USA volunteers. Decisions are based upon the local volunteers experience evaluating students’ abilities to benefit from an AFS program, and other members of the community whose job experience gives them expertise in evaluating families’ financial capabilities. Awards are announced at the end of each AFS application cycle.
