Gail Meaker was strong, compassionate, and made a lasting impression on people wherever she went. She was the type of person who looked for, and often found, the common ground and common good that connects all of us. Gail’s outlook flourished in Finland—her destination as a young AFS student in 1973. Before her untimely death in 2018 after a two-year struggle with lymphoma, Gail made a scholarship provision for AFS-USA in her estate plans with the hope of inspiring other young people with the same experience that so deeply touched her life.
Gail’s AFS adventure in Finland set her on a lifelong journey of making friends all over the world. Please contact [email protected] for more information on the Meaker Scholarship.
