The Catherine Scully Scholarship is made possible by the generosity of the Catherine Scully Endowed Scholarship Fund.

The AFS Catherine Scully Scholarship was created by Michael J. Scully, a Springfield native who helped found AFS Intercultural Programs. Michael was a volunteer American Field Service ambulance driver during World War II. Michael wanted to see students from his own home town of Springfield go abroad on AFS to learn, explore, grow, meet people, and make friends all over the world. Therefore, he created and funded this scholarship for them and named it after his grand-daughter Catherine. Michael has since passed away, but his legacy and passion for peace lives on.
