My cousin married a man from Oaxaca and her mother in law taught her how to make this. When we visited them in the mountains of Oaxaca we had this.

Ingredients

  • Roma Tomatoes 3
  • Chile de arbol 2
  • Garlic 1
  • Salt 1 teaspoon

Directions

  • Core tomatoes and place in toaster oven under broiler for about ten minutes, turning occasionally until softened and a little charred, add two Chile de arbol and toast until dark. Add tomatoes with juice, chiles, minced garlic and salt to blender. Blend until smooth. Enjoy with tortilla chips either freshly made when it’s warm or refrigerated.
