Paul Primak retired from the Oregon University System after 35 years working with international programs. As Director of IP, he worked with a dedicated staff developing new programs and expanding international internships for undergraduate students. A significant part of his responsibilities involved budgeting and contracts; preparation of students and faculty for their international experiences; and coordination of activities among the seven public universities. Paul was fortunate to work with an exceptionally talented team of 27 professionals both in Oregon and in various locations abroad.
In retirement, Paul volunteers with American Councils, the American Field Service, and as a public member of the Commission for English Language Programs. He has also served as a member of the interview and selection committee for the Ford Family Foundation which awards university scholarships focusing on rural students in Oregon and California.
During his university career, Paul recognized the profound effect that high school exchanges had on applicants to the university programs. They were consistently more confident, mature, and motivated.
Paul and his wife Susan have been married for 25 years. Their daily routines are guided by two faithful dogs that keep the household in good order.
