About Our Team

AFS Pacific Cascades is a vibrant group of local volunteers, host families and students from Woodburn to Yreka and Bend to Newport. We are passionate about promoting intercultural exchange in our communities! We host 8-10 international students each year and send several American students abroad on summer, semester and year-long study abroad programs each year.

What’s a Meet-Up?
These are events that are informally organized by local volunteers or families that welcome other AFS students (with/without their families). All events are optional and provided to enhance the students’ experience in our beautiful state. Follow this site for the latest meet-up and join the fun.

Got a Meet-up Idea? 
Email Diane Brown ([email protected]) and we’ll post it on our events page. Some ideas: Local Festivals, ice skating, mini-golf, shopping trips, hiking, performances, food events…endless possibilities!

For many of these events, contact other AFS families/volunteers nearby for carpool opportunities. Some areas have volunteers that have a lot of extra room in their cars for events. Geography is a problem in Pacific Cascades (spanning Salem to Ashland, Bend to the coast) so let’s be creative!
