AFS-USA is dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ applicants who are passionate about becoming Global Citizens and working to make the world a more just and peaceful place. The AFS-USA Pride Scholarship is available to those applying for a year or semester AFS study abroad program.
This is a full scholarship and has both a need and merit-based component. We will prioritize LGBTQIA+ applicants based on their need for financial assistance. We’ll also be eager to explore the following experiences and qualities an applicant presents to us:
- The applicant demonstrates a commitment to advancing justice and the well-being of their LGBTQIA+ communities.
- The applicant has faced systemic barriers to educational access and has been impacted by systemic discrimination and oppression.
You must start your study abroad program application with AFS in order to apply for the Pride Scholarship. Once you have selected this scholarship as one for which you wish to apply, the instructions will be made available to you on your AFS Dashboard.
If you are awarded the scholarship, you and your parents will be required to sign a scholarship acceptance letter and the scholarship will appear on your Program Invoice.
AFS-USA would also like to announce and celebrate the applicant selected. Please reach out to your assigned Study Abroad Specialist if this would present a challenge for you. You will not be disqualified if you’re uncomfortable with having your award publicly celebrated.
