Support AFS programs and foster transformative experiences that last a lifetime.
We believe that finances should not be a barrier to studying abroad with AFS. Your gift will make a difference in the lives of students, families, schools, and communities across the U.S. and abroad.
Planned Giving
A gift in your will creates a foundation for the future. Our work today is important, but it is equally, if not more important, to ensure AFS-USA can continue well into the future.
If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! By using this link to give from your IRA, you can auto-complete your paperwork and we can track your gift to send you the proper tax receipts.
Gifts of Stock
Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. Use this tool to donate stock so we can track your gift, send you the correct receipt, and ensure you can get the tax savings you deserve. If you would prefer to make your donation through your broker, access our transfer information from the link above to notify us of your gift.
Donor-Advised Funds
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations today. This tool automatically links with your DAF, allows you to recommend how you’d like your gift to be used and notifies us of your intentions. Using this link to grant from your DAF also saves us a lot of time, so thank you! It’s a great way to ensure consistent financial support while saving cash for immediate needs.
Cryptocurrency
We now accept donations of Ethereum, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies! This gives us one more way to fund our work and can provide you with extra tax benefits. Give cryptocurrency here.
Check or Phone
Checks can be mailed to Attn: Development, 120 Wall Street, Suite 1600, New York, NY 10005. To make a donation over the phone, contact Jonathan Gross, Senior Director of Development, at 646-751-2011.
What We Do Matters – Now More Than Ever
In a time of deepening division, the work of building understanding across cultures has never been more essential. At AFS-USA, we believe that international exchange isn’t just meaningful—it’s necessary.
Each year, AFS-USA brings hundreds of high school students from around the world to live with American families and attend local schools. These are not political initiatives—they’re people-to-people experiences that change lives and communities. A teenager joins the marching band in Missouri. A family in Michigan learns to cook a dish from Brazil. These quiet moments are where the world becomes smaller, kinder, and more connected. The real impact of exchange lies in the relationships formed and the perspectives gained—by students, families, volunteers, and schools alike. It’s powered by dedicated volunteers who believe in young people and the promise of a more compassionate world.
We don’t always call this diplomacy. But it is. Because in moments like these, what we do matters—perhaps more than ever.
Through the help of generous donors, AFS-USA offers students who demonstrate financial need scholarships that range from partial to full program fees for summer, semester, and year long AFS-USA study abroad programs. Your gift will ensure that the cost of studying abroad is not a barrier to participation in an AFS program!
AFS-USA is a Top-Rated Organization!
By donating to AFS-USA, you provide opportunities for intercultural exchange that develop the global competence needed to create a more just and peaceful world. As we’ve consistently demonstrated, AFS nurtures active global citizens who make the world a better place.
