Many of our volunteers have received opportunities to make global connections and explore the world through the AFS network, all with the purpose of building a more peaceful world. Each year, the AFS Youth Assembly gathers ambitious young people (ages 18-32) from around the globe who are dedicated to making a difference. AFS International awarded two volunteers, Federico from the Capital Area Team and Marie from the Baltimore Area Team, scholarships to make their participation possible during this year’s event in Geneva, Switzerland.
Let’s hear a bit about their experiences at the 2026 AFS Youth Assembly!
Federico: Greetings from the AFS Youth Assembly in Geneva, which hosted 700 delegates from 80+ countries around the world! I helped out with logistics during the main event and chaperoned a group of 30 students through lectures and workshops at the UN and WHO offices. It has been a truly life-changing experience. Thank you so much for making this unforgettable experience possible.
Marie: It truly was an honor and a privilege to work with such dedicated, hard-working, and welcoming people. Whether it was discussing local customs and food or country specific education policy everyone brought their passion and drive to every activity. We were challenged to ask hard questions and create solutions that supported our communities. Thank you for the opportunity to volunteer at the Youth Assembly and Educator’s Academy!
When you volunteer with AFS-USA, you never know where the experience will take you!
