About Our Team

AFS Pacific Cascades is a vibrant group of local volunteers, host families and students from Woodburn to Yreka and Bend to Newport. We are passionate about promoting intercultural exchange in our communities and we host more than 30 international students and send several American students abroad on summer, semester and year-long study abroad programs each year.

What’s a Meet-Up?

These are events that are informally organized by local volunteers or families that welcome other AFS students (with/without their families). All events are optional and provided to enhance the students’ experience in our beautiful state. Follow this site for the latest meet-up and join the fun.

Email Andra Bobbitt ([email protected]) and we’ll post it on our events page.  Some ideas: Local Festivals, ice skating, mini-golf, shopping trips, hiking, performances, food events..endless possibilites!

For many of these events, contact other AFS families/volunteers nearby for carpool opportunities. Some areas have volunteers that have a lot of extra room in their cars for events. Geography is a problem in Pacific Cascades (spanning Salem to Ashland, Bend to the coast) so let’s be creative!
