Dawn Fest Memorial Scholarship
Promoting intercultural understanding and creating life-long connections has been a value for generations in the Fest Family. The scholarship was created in memory of Dawn Fest who died in 1988. She participated in exchanges to Sweden and Germany, and her siblings were AFS exchange students to Switzerland and Peru. While growing up, her family hosted many students. In addition, when in high school, her mother hosted an AFS student from Sweden and her father was an AFS exchange student to Germany. This scholarship seeks to encourage and support students who participate in a semester or year-long program and in turn promote intercultural awareness.
Recipients of the Dawn Fest Memorial Scholarship will be expected to attend the AFS Colorado Rockies Pre-Departure Orientation held in the Denver area , maintain a blog while on program, and promote AFS programs by conducting two presentations to other students within a year of their return.
