The Maine Global Explorers Scholarship is a joint initiative between the Dirigo and Pine Tree Area Teams to provide financial assistance to Maine youth to pursue an AFS experience that will equip Maine youth with intercultural competency skills that will enable them to become global citizens capable of transforming their lives, local communities, and future workplaces, to achieve our mission of creating a more just and peaceful world.
The MEGE: Adventurer merit scholarship is available for students interested in virtual AFS programs only.

Applicants must:
- Reside and attend a school in Maine,
- Complete the appropriate MEGE: GYA student and parent scholarship applications based on the program start date chosen
Disclaimer: Recipients who do not complete the program and requirements in entirety for any reason other than medical or bereavement are expected to reimburse the AFS Maine Global Explorers Scholarship in full. Scholarship awards are non-transferable and may only be used for the program stated in the award letter. Upon request, the MEGE Committee may, at its sole discretion, allow transfers into different program dates, pending available space. Children and relatives of current or former AFS-USA or AFS International staff members are not eligible to apply.
