If you know a lot of people that live far away…
Write a letter introducing yourself, why you are fundraising, your motivations to study abroad and details about AFS. There is a great template in the AFS Fundraising Guide you can use to being your own letter. Explain in detail how people can contribute to your goal – where and how to send a contribution. Work with your parents to finalize the list of people you will email (family members, friends of your parents, teachers, coaches, community members, etc.) Send or email your letter to your recipients. Track the contributions you receive using the interactive forms in the AFS Fundraising Guide. As you receive contributions, be sure to send thank you letters. You might also want to consider starting a blog (and regularly making posts) so you can send updates to your current and potential contributors. This is a great way to show all the things you are doing to reach your goal!
