If you are a party planner…

Organize a school-, church- or community-wide spaghetti dinner, ice cream social, salad bar, omelet or pancake breakfast, etc. When setting the price of each ticket, consult your parents for input. Advertise your event around your community (i.e. community calendar, library bulletin board, church bulletin, newspaper, etc.) as far in advance as possible, but at least a few weeks before the event to maximize attendance. Be sure to include why you are fundraising, your motivations to study abroad, and details about AFS. Depending on how many people RSVP, ask your parents or friends to help you prepare the meal, or consider asking them to donate per-prepared menu items (i.e. spaghetti sauce, salad, pancake batter, ice cream cones, etc.) Before the event, recruit your friends to help serve or clear tables at the dinner and other friends to play music or provide entertainment.
