Do I need a visa for my AFS program?
Yes, you need a visa to travel to Egypt. You will apply for your visa upon arrival at the airport in Egypt.
How do I apply for the visa?
All students need to bring and carry their visa application materials with them on the plane to Egypt.
*Please Note: If you do not collect the documents listed below, Egyptian Immigration Officials will not allow you to enter Egypt.
What documents will I need to collect in order to apply for the visa?
- United States Passport valid for at least six months after your return
- Two color photocopies of passport
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Parental Consent Form (Notarized)
- $35 USD for a multiple entry visa
*Additional documents may be required. If so, you will be notified by AFS before you depart.

Can I travel before the start of my program?
We recommend that you do not travel outside of the United States 1 month prior to your program. If you do intend to travel during this period, please inform your Study Abroad Specialist.
