Argentina Summer Visa FAQ

Welcome

Welcome to the visa FAQs for Argentine summer programs. The country, duration/content/length of your program, and several other factors all determine how simple or complex your process for legally entering a country. Obtaining a visa or residence permit can often be a very challenging process. It is important that you conduct your own research as well as follow our guidelines very closely. AFS’ Visa Staff are here to guide you through the process. If you ever have any questions throughout the process, please reach out to us by emailing [email protected] or calling 1-800-237-4636.

General Visa Questions and Answers

Passport

You must have a valid passport, which expires at least 6 months after your expected return to the USA, in order to enter Argentina. U.S. citizens do not need a visa for visits of up to 90 days for tourism or business.

Do I need a visa?

If you have an American passport, you do not need a visa. Please let AFS know immediately if you do not have an American passport, as you may need to apply for a visa prior to your departure.

Can I travel before the start of my program?

You should not plan any excursions outside of the United States three months prior to your program. If you travel before the start of your program, you will run the risk of not being able to participate in your program.
