That time I met the Prime Minister of Norway

…and other highlights from my time abroad so far.

My name is Finn-Christian, and I am a junior from Santa Clarita, California. I am currently attending U. Phil Vindergående Skole in Bergen, Norway for my AFS exchange year.

I was recently able to meet and take pictures with the Norwegian Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, at the UCI World Championships with two other AFS exchange students, Jorik (Germany) and Juan Pablo (Mexico).

We were all really excited to have stumbled upon her after the ceremony for the main event of the day, especially Jorik.

The following day, my cousin, Jorik, and I also saw the royal family.

So far, I would have to say that the most enjoyable part of my exchange year has been hanging out with the other AFS students from the Bergen region who are from the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Chile, Turkey, Thailand, and Mexico, as well as getting to know the local Norwegians and immigrants. (Side-note: We recently met two other exchange students and added them to our international friend group based here in Bergen. They're from France and Spain!)

We AFS students have made very strong bonds with each other over the past two months, even to the point where we are planning to visit one another when we return home.

I cannot wait to see what the year ahead has in store for me!!!
