Jim Walker is an AFS Returnee from the year program to Indonesia, 1987-88, and from a short summer program in Turkey, 2013. In addition to his role on the AFS-USA Board, Jim has held several volunteer positions within the AFS Capital Area Team, such as Area Team Chair, Sending Coordinator, Liaison, and Sending Orientation Coordinator. He is also the Vice Chair of the AFS National Council and is rotating off of the AFS Sponsored Programs Advisory Group (SPAG). Jim has hosted students from Brazil, China, Germany, and Thailand.
Jim received his B.A. degree from Albion College and his M.A. from American University. He is an economist in the Federal government. Prior to moving to the Washington DC area, Jim served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica.
