AFS Host Parent, Volunteer, and Returnee – U.S. to Indonesia, 1987-88

Jim Walker is an AFS Returnee from the year program to Indonesia, 1987-88, and from a short summer program in Türkiye, 2013. In addition to his role on the AFS-USA Board, Jim has held several AFS volunteer positions within the team in the Washington DC area, such as Area Team Chair, Sending Coordinator, Liaison, and Sending Orientation Coordinator. He is also the Co-Chair of the AFS National Council. Jim has hosted students from Brazil, China, Germany, and Thailand.

Jim received his B.A. degree from Albion College and his M.A. from American University. He is an economist in the Federal government. Prior to moving to the Washington DC area, Jim served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica.
