Program Description

This 4 week program is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the lifestyle and culture of Argentina. Spend a summer doing community service, and live with a host family to better understand the culture and improve your Spanish as well! You might volunteer in an orphanage, help teach soccer to children with disabilities, or work on environmental projects restoring parks.

You and your fellow AFSers will fly together between Miami and Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina. Upon your arrival, you will be met by volunteers and staff of AFS Argentina and taken to the Arrival Orientation site located in outside Buenos Aires. There you will take part in a 2-day orientation that will help prepare you for your intercultural experience.

Following the orientation, you and the group will travel to your host community by bus where you will be met by the local volunteers and your host families.

All participants will reside with volunteer host families selected by AFS Argentina. Your host family will provide room, board, and guidance to you during your stay.

Remember that Argentina is in the southern hemisphere so the seasons are reversed from those in the northern hemisphere. Even though you will be departing during our summer, it will be winter in Argentina. Please pack appropriately.

Additional information will be provided to participants prior to departure.
