For 2010 Spring Programs departing January – April 2010
Payment: Due:
$75 application fee With your preliminary application
$900 tuition deposit Upon submission of your full application
$1,500 installment November 1, 2009, or within 20 days of receipt of your invoice, whichever comes later
Remaining balance December 1, 2009, or upon receipt of your invoice, whichever comes later


























For 2010 Short Summer Programs departing June – July 2010
Payment: Due:
$75 application fee With your preliminary application
$900 tuition deposit Upon submission of your full application
$1,500 installment March 1, 2010, or within 20 days of receipt of your invoice, whichever comes later
Remaining balance April 1, 2010, or upon receipt of your invoice, whichever comes later


























For 2010 Fall Programs departing July – September 2010
Payment: Due:
$75 application fee With your preliminary application
$900 tuition deposit Upon submission of your full application
$1,500 installment April 1, 2010, or within 20 days of receipt of your invoice, whichever comes later
Remaining balance May 1, 2010, or upon receipt of your invoice, whichever comes later



Important Notes:

  • Students whose tuition is not paid in full will not be permitted to depart on program under any circumstances.
  • Delays in student departures may occur due to circumstances beyond the control of AFS-USA, such as changes in visa processes or other regulations here or abroad.
  • Participation fees for programs are not based upon the length of the program. Fees will not be prorated or discounted if departures are delayed.
  • AFS will impose late-payment penalties as appropriate.
  • All programs, prices, and travel dates are subject to change without notice.

Refund Policy

$75 application fee: Non-refundable
$900 tuition deposit: Non-refundable unless:
  • Your application is not accepted by AFS Staff in the U.S.
  • Your application is not accepted by AFS Staff in any of the host countries you have agreed to consider.
  • You do not receive the name and address of your host family two weeks prior to departure, and you decide to withdraw on that basis.



















Tuition payments beyond the $900 tuition deposit:
If you with withdraw from the program: Refund policy:
more than 60 days before departure Fully refundable
less than 60 days before departure You will be responsible to pay your deposit plus 20% of the total tuition cost. The remainder is refundable.
after departure All tuition is non-refundable.


In circumstances when the $900 tuition deposit is refundable, tuition payments are also refundable.

If you receive a scholarship that covers any portion of an invoice you have already paid, AFS will issue a refund accordingly.

AFS USA will make every reasonable effort to keep applicants advised of changes to program details. AFS-USA reserves the right to change program components without advance notification.
