Reconnecting with AFS

There are more than 370,000 AFS Returnees throughout the world today, and there are several ways to stay connected with AFS after program. Here are a few suggestions to get started:

Host a Local Returnee Event
AFS Returnee often host local AFS Returnee events to meet other Returnees in their community and engage with local AFS activities. Check the Events Section of the website, or contact us for more information on hosting a local event.

Update your Information
Make sure we have your current contact information. This way you can receive the latest updates from the AFS community and ways to get involved. Updating your information is simple:

Compose an email to lzurcher@afs.org with a subject: Returnee Updated Contact Info

Include in the body of the email your:

  • Mailing address
  • Phone number
  • Email address.

If you’d like to call and update your information, simply dial 1-800-876-2376, ext. 1114.

Register to Volunteer
As a returned AFS participant, your experience is something you can always share with others. Take the time to register as a volunteer with AFS now and start helping young people in your community with the decision to study abroad.

Carry the Mission Forward
The AFS mission of a more just and peaceful world continues after you return, and committing to a few hours per week could change the lives of many. As a volunteer-driven organization, there are many different ways you can help spread the mission.

Volunteering with AFS provides a unique opportunity to utilize your talents and help others realize the benefits of intercultural exchange. Volunteering can take the form of a few hours a week, a few hours per month or sporadically as your schedule allows. Some of the most engaged AFS Volunteers are Returnees, so AFS strongly encourages your participation.
