Hosting students provides U.S. high schools with unique and exciting opportunities in intercultural education. AFS places more than 2,600 outstanding exchange participants each year.
- Students are eager to learn and to experience what it’s like to live in America as a member of a family, school, and community.
- Students live with Host Families and are supported by local AFS Volunteers who work with students, their Host Parents, and high school administrators and teachers.
- Schools may opt to participate in the AFS School Hosting Rep Program through which schools help AFS identify a volunteer liaison who works exclusively to support AFS activity with that school.
- Schools that host students are recognized as community leaders in intercultural education and contribute to the cultural richness of their communities.
