When American Field Service ambulance drivers developed AFS Intercultural Programs after World Wars I and II, France and Italy were some of the first partners to exchange students with the U.S. Today, the mission of AFS is to work toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.
