2/28/2010 - Statement on the Earthquake in Chile

AFS-USA has U.S. students studying in Chile on year and semester programs. Semester students arrived on the 25 and on the 26 February and were at the orientation site when the earthquake occurred (the site is located 50 Kms. south of Santiago). AFS-USA is working with AFS staff and volunteers in Chile to ensure the safety and security of all students in Chile as we continue to assess the situation. AFS is communicating with the parents of all participants and reports thus far indicate that all students are safe.
