12/30/2009 - New Year's Message to AFS Volunteers

Dear AFS Volunteers,

As a challenging year for AFS-USA comes to a close, we would like to take a minute to thank each and every one of you for everything you have contributed to the organization this year. Whether your volunteer role in 2009 included participation on the National Council, serving as a delegate to our first National Volunteer Assembly, acting in an area team or chapter leadership role, supporting our students and host families as a liaison, assisting with host family recruitment, helping with orientations, Departure Day, arrivals, and other events, or contributing in other ways as an AFS volunteer, your efforts are appreciated.

Without your dedication to our participants and to our program – as well as the dedication of nearly 6000 other AFS-USA volunteers – we would not be able to continue in our mission to create a more just and peaceful world.

Sincerely,

Mary Porterfield
AFS-USA National Council Chair
