You’ve been working hard all year. Reward yourself—and learn something new on an AFS program! Here are the 5 hottest programs in 2010 everyone is talking about:

1. France Summer Language Study
Full Application Deadline – May 12th, 2010
Attend a language school in southern France (don’t worry, beginners are welcome!) while taking excursions with other international students to nearby towns and sights. 4 weeks.

2. Spain Summer Language Study
Full Application Deadline – May 12th, 2010
Spend a month studying Spanish in the diverse country of Spain while staying in a residence hall with other international students. With side trips and cultural activities included, this program is a classic AFS favorite. 4 weeks.

3. Panama Summer Community Service
Full Application Deadline – May 12th, 2010
Spend five weeks in Panama living with a host family while getting involved with local community projects during the day. Spanish lessons will be provided during the first few weeks of the program, and there will many opportunities to explore this amazing country. 5 weeks.

4. Thailand Summer Community Service
Full Application Deadline – May 12th, 2010
Perform community service for 7 weeks and enjoy a summer like no other. Teach English and serve as a teacher’s aide in a traditional school or even tutor adults; assist secondary school health or physical education teachers develop programs to reduce problems in schools or highlight social/health issues; or work in a local hospital. You’ll live with a host family, make new friends, and become involved in community life while learning about the local culture. You can earn up to 105 hours of community service credit. 7 weeks.

5. Paraguay Summer Homestay Program
Full Application Deadline – May 12th, 2010
This program offers a great opportunity to immerse yourself in another language and culture and learn first hand about life in another part of the world. As with all AFS homestay programs, you will be placed with a volunteer host family who will provide you with lodging, meals, and guidance while abroad. Participants may be placed throughout Paraguay. Most placements are in small cities or suburban areas. 7 weeks.
