Global Leaders Merit Scholarships
Earn a $3,000 merit based scholarship for select AFS programs!
We have a number of scholarships available for students interested in participating on a year program to China, Egypt, India, Turkey or Russia departing summer/fall of 2012.
By February 15, 2012 you must:
- Submit a preliminary application for one of the programs listed above.
- Email essay to scholarships@afs.org.
- Complete the AFS Full Application. Please note that the full application will require everything listed here in the application checklist.
Essay
AFS-USA works toward a more just and peaceful world by providing international and intercultural learning experiences to individuals, families, schools, and communities through a global volunteer partnership.
Please tell us how intercultural learning experiences can lead to a more just and peaceful world, and how you plan to help us work toward our mission. Your essay must be:
- One page, double spaced,12 pt font.
- Emailed to scholarships@afs.org on or before February 15.
Scholarship Details
- Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for their desired program. Those can be found here: China, Egypt, India, Turkey, Russia.
- No previous language experience is required.
- Three to five awards will be given.
- Scholarships can be combined with Global Leaders Need Based awards.
- A selection committee including AFS Alumni and AFS Volunteers will review applications and essays to select winners.
- Recipients will be notified in early March.
