Spain Year High School Program – Fall Departure

Get ready for an academic year you’ll never forget. Live with a host family in one of Europe’s most culturally vibrant countries while attending a local high school. If you are considering Spain primarily to improve your Spanish, be aware you will be speaking other languages quite often instead, as Spain boasts many different regional dialects.

During your year in Spain, you will most likely attend high school as a senior, and may choose from three subjects: Science, Humanities and Technology. School is an excellent way in Spain to meet new friends and get involved in sports, music or the arts.

About Spain

At the crossroads of Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Atlantic, Spain has developed a rich culture. There are four official languages – Catalan, Galician, Basque, and Spanish – and seventeen political regions (comunidades autonomas), as well as a variety of cuisines, lifestyles, festivals, architecture and music. Spain is a multicultural and multilingual nation and AFS places students in all communities, including those in which Spanish is not the primary language spoken at home or in school. Embrace the diversity and get to know Spain as a local.

Please Note: Travel date ranges are provided to help with general scheduling. Please do not reserve any domestic travel based on these dates. AFS will notify confirmed participants with specific travel details approximately 45 days prior to departure. Programs, prices, and travel dates are subject to change without notice.
