Honduras Year Community Service Program – Fall Departure
Spend a gap year in Honduras working with a local community project while living with a host family and improving your Spanish language skills.
AFS provides 2 weeks (40 hours) of Spanish language instruction in Tegucigalpa, to prepare you for your community service project. During this time, you will live with a welcome host family.
AFS Honduras will work with your interests to find a project that best utilizes your skills. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the life of a community abroad, while living and working alongside its members. Past participants worked in suburban or rural communities for social and environmental organizations.

About Honduras
Honduras has the world’s second-largest barrier reef, dazzling Caribbean islands, colonial-style towns, and a mountain interior on the west. Honduras is world famous for its archeological sites, including 3,000-year-old Mayan ruins and the mysterious rediscovered city of Copán, but it’s true treasure is the people and relaxed life-style. Mealtime is family time and the food is colorful and varied. You will also enjoy the carnivals and soccer games.
