AFS has participated in research about international, intercultural and experiential learning for decades. Just as learning is an ongoing process, research about learning and its impact on students continues.
AFS is currently involved in research in a new study designed to to better understand the impact of living abroad on AFS participants with University of Essex researchers Dr. Nicolas Geeraert and Kali Daemes. This initiative will try to unravel what factors enable participants to better adapt to different cultures. Determining the optimal factors for intercultural learning will enable AFS to create the best conditions for each participant.
This ambitious, three and a half year project is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), one of the leading British research councils.
