Country Information

Compared to the surrounding countries, Qatar is very young. In certain regions there has been discovery of life that dates back to 6 BC, young compared to the other Arab countries. To keep up with the Arab countries Qatar has been making a name for itself with its famous hospitality and welcoming people.

Lifestyle and Family


The family is strongly male dominated. The males make the last decisions and the women abide. The oldest son is to marry and be the one to take care his parents when they are older. Daughters aren't allowed to leave the house unless accompanied by family member. The children get married according to age, rarely out of order.

Teen Life and Sports


Men play soccer while woman take strolls and walk around. For leisure teens like to watch movies, especially those from the United States.

Diet


A typical dish is has rice and either lamb, chicken, or fish. The meats and fish are seasoned with spices, usually spice influenced by India. Curry is very a popular spice. Breakfast is the only meal that is westernized; people have eggs or a box of cereal. No matter the meal, tea is served.

Language and Religion


Arabic is the official language. 78% of the citizens of Qatar are Muslim.
