How do I apply for the Residence Permit?You will enter Honduras on a tourist status and must extend your 90 day tourist visa after arrival. You must bring additional required documents with you to Honduras to obtain a local Temporary Residence Permit and ID. AFS-Honduras will help you with these steps.
What documents will I need to bring with me to Honduras in order to apply for the visa?Additional documents may be required. Do not begin collecting your documents until you are notified by AFS.
How much will the Residence Permit cost?The above-listed amount must be paid in American dollars to AFS-Honduras staff upon arrival. The fee covers the administrative process involved, including costs for special permit requests, notarizations, and the cost of the Residence ID.
Are there any other expected costs?There are additional costs involved in obtaining, notarizing, and legalizing the required documents.
Are any of these costs covered in my AFS program tuition?No, your program fee does not cover any of the costs related to obtaining your passport or Residence Permit.
Can I travel before the start of my program?Although you must be in your home community for the Pre-Departure Orientation, obtaining the Residence Permit will not place any limitations on your travel.
